In years past, June would have marked that EDC was upon us, but as we all know, EDC took place in late May this year. Instead, we now can fall back to the comfort of knowing that June is the halfway point of the year. While it is hard to believe that half of 2018 has already come and gone, its rather easy to see why it zoomed before our eyes. With such an influx of new music, we’ve been able to keep a steady flow, and a full music library. 2018 has been jam packed with fresh music from many of our favorite artist, with a select few releasing full fledged albums. We’ve counted over 15+ notable albums thus far, and with half a year still left to go, the staff here at EDMTunes has gotten together to give you our top picks. Below are our top 8 picks for the best album so far in 2018.
 1. Above & Beyond – Common Ground
Coming in at the top spot is none other than the Anjunabeats honchos, Above & Beyond, with their masterpiece of an album, Common Ground. Sporting a thirteen track setlist, and numerous collaborations we get more than enough to hold us over till their next release.
2. ilan Bluestone – Scars
Coming in at the second spot we have none other than ‘Scars‘ from, ilan Bluestone. While this album no doubt has the mesmerizing “Anjuna-vibe” that the label is known for, Bluestone went on the record as saying that the record “is just me in the studio experimenting with the sound that I like to produce for myself and what people will feel.” If you haven’t given this a listen yet, it is highly recommended you do.
3. Spencer Brown – Illusion of Perfection
Illusion of Perfection is Spencer Brown‘s debut album, and it is blazing hot. This album is a prime example of why the legendary Avicii handpicked Brown as direct support on his 2014 TRUE tour. With a 12 track setlist, its easy to keep coming back for more.
4. Lane 8 – Little By Little
Few producers have been able to make a splash the way Daniel Goldstein has with his Lane 8 project. In his second album, Little By Little, Lane 8 is able to melodically hypnotize us, and keep us coming back for more. It is easy to say that this album is slammed with hit after hit.
5. Steve Angello – HUMAN
This list would not be complete without Steve Angello‘s debut album, Human. Through Human, the SIZE Records label head brings us some of his best work to date. Steve Angello shows us what kept him busy while Swedish House Mafia was inactive, and its glorious. This record will definitely be a defining moment in Angello’s career and is already being considered a musical masterpiece.
6. Deadmau5 – Where’s The Drop?
Deadmau5 shocked the world when he revealed that he would be releasing an album featuring some of his biggest hits, in orchestral form. The TIDAL exclusive album was released alongside two Orchestra shows. There are few artist that are able to pull off recreating their music with live instruments, however through Where’s The Drop?, Deadmau5 joins the club.
7. Alison Wonderland – Awake
Alison Wonderland wows us with her Sophomore Album Awake, as she takes us on a ride through different genres, and soundscapes. Listening though the album in one go can cause the listener to go on quite the emotional rollercoaster. With that being said, the album contains 14 tracks, and there is plenty to enjoy.
8. Enrico Sangiuliano – Biomorph
Last, but definitely not least, we have Enrico Sangiuliano’s Biomorph. Being the only techno artist on the list should say something for the high quality of Sangiuliano’s productions. Biomorph is “A very special concept album designed to take the listener on a journey of evolution.” At 11 tracks, the album itself is one big cohesive work of art, and a very enjoyable listen.
