Amsterdam’s Kingsland Festival is an annual celebration driven by unity and solidarity on the day the Netherlands celebrates the birth of their cherished king(King’s Day). Adding an undeniably majestic touch to the day, this unique celebration features 4 mini-festivals across 4 cities in the Netherlands on the same day. This year, the Dutch festival will commemorate a Swede, the legendary Avicii.
At all four Kingsland festival cities, the music will be stopped tomorrow, i.e. Friday evening, at 6:55 PM. The audience will be encouraged to applaud for one minute. After the applause, the DJs in the four cities will play ‘Levels‘ by the beloved musician in celebration of his life. On behalf of their colleagues, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano stated
“Avicii has made an incredible mark on global dance music. He was an exceptionally talented colleague, but above all, a sweet man. The least we can do is give him a standing ovation and then It does not in any way do justice to his entire musical career, but we do not want to ignore this fact on this King’s day. We can happily let his music be heard for years to come and we will certainly continue to do so.”
We encourage the rest of the world, not just the electronic dance music community, to join in on the celebration by paying your respects to Avicii. One minute of silence is the perfect way to relive the happiness that he has brought to each and every one of our lives. #RIP
