8 Graves – SOS
In a time when so many artists are producing simple dance-pop tracks it’s definitely refreshing to see some buck that trend. Well New York based duo 8 Graves are definitely no trend followers. Their last offering, ‘Smile‘, was a beautifully dark and moody track. And now they’re looking to follow that up with their latest meaningful masterpiece, ‘SOS‘. The duo had this to say about the track;
“‘SOS’ is all about how hard it is for me to have honest conversation with people. Since most of what I think is pretty depressing, I normally try to bury it and keep my conversation light. I’ve learned to put on a facade, and hide myself away. However, I think there’s a big part of me that longs to be truly accepted, dark side included. Sometimes, especially after I’ve had a few drinks, I let the truth slip out, and I can immediately see how differently people look at me. Unfortunately, like a sinking ship, there’s not a lot I can do to stop it. Mentally, I wave the white flag, send the distress signal, and hope something or someone can save me, because I know, in those situations, there’s no saving myself.”
And from start to finish, the powerful lyrics and grungy production work hand-in-hand to create a moody and thoroughly enjoyable piece. Give it a listen and follow the duo below to keep up with their latest stuff.
