Ultra Music Festival, the world-renowned event kicking off this weekend in Miami, FL, announced this morning that it has acquired Winter Music Conference.
Albert Berdellans, Ultra’s Marketing and New Media Manager, explained upon the announcement:
“WMC will allow veterans and newcomers alike to develop themselves and their organizations to become competitive players in the industry. We are very excited to contribute to the vision of Miami as a hub of entertainment, culture and business.”
With the acquisition, Billy Kelly – a WMC co-founder – will stay on the team; he noted that this partnership has been in the works for awhile, and he’s been biting his tongue:
“A couple years ago, we revisited the idea of coming together. At that point the Amsterdam Dance Event and International Music Summit in Ibiza had formed over the course of the last five years or so, but Ibiza is a very small island, it’s very expensive, and it’s not easily available to businesses and fans. Over the years, the significance of WMC slightly diminished because of those, so to bring (attention) back to Miami, this acquisition was necessary.”
The acquisition is no surprise, as it makes complete sense for the two events that run over the course of this week in Miami. With one foot in business with the conference and one foot in pleasure with the event, Ultra Music Festival’s bases are covered – and it will only continue to grow.
