The speculation surrounding Ultra Music Festival‘s special guest headliner continues, as we close in on the final few days before the festival.
Swedish House Mafia is the prime contender for that prized slot, and there is certainly some evidence to back that up. However, Daft Punk, Skrillex and Jack U, are also high on the list possibilities. It seems like everyone has their own opinion on who they think it will be, including two-time DJ Mag #1 winner Hardwell. During an interview with Slam.nl, the EDM star weighed in on who he thinks will be closing down the festival. The Revealed Recordings boss responded to the question that has been making the rounds in everyone’s minds by saying:
“Do you know why I think this? I looked at the facts and the deciding factor for me was that Steve Angello, one of the three members of SHM, cancelled his Asia tour out of the blue, suddenly doesn’t have any shows planned, and he is in Miami. For me, this means that it has to happen.”
This is just the latest in a long list of evidence to suggest a reunion is in the cards. Earlier this month, the trio’s former lighting tech dropped a huge hint that a return was being plotted. There was also speculation surrounding memorial patches sent out to ticketholders for Ultra 2018, the event’s 20th anniversary, which apparently contained a secret clue about this year’s surprise guests. There is even some speculation that Alesso will replace Steve for a reunion performance.
Regardless of who the surprise headliner may be, Axwell & Ingrosso are headlining the festival on Friday night, with or without Steve Angello. However, quite honestly, I think everyone is hoping for the rumors of the trio reuniting to be true. I know I am.
