Over time, Instagram continues to add on features to keep it’s users coming back and enjoy using their platform. Features such as being able to go live with multiple users, and the ability to add stories to your feed have been well received by most users. Instagram always looking to stay one step ahead of Snapchat, plans to add on one more interesting feature soon.
Tech blog WABetaInfo has reportedly leaked that Instagram has plans to add on Video Calling to their Direct Messages feature. The leak comes in the form of a screenshot that shows what appears to be a video call icon located at the top right of the screen in the direct messages feature.
The feature is set to appear only when you open an active chat with another user meaning they have to have accepted your direct message, otherwise, it will not show up. Tapping on the icon initiates the video calling feature. Unfortunately, don’t expect to see it in an update too soon as the feature is still currently in development.
The update is expected to be ready in a few months time and is expected to roll out for both the iOS and Android versions of the application.
