Kaskade Starts Kickstarter for School in Brazil

Kaskade

Kaskade can easily be described as the modern day St. Nicholas. He has already blessed us all with a Christmas album filled with joyous original songs and vocals of his own, and now, he is doing something even bigger.

Recently, he started a Kickstarter project to help fund Project Favela, which is an “organization that uses education as a tool in hopes of creating opportunities that could change the lives of others within the communities of Rio de Janeiro”. Project Favela has almost 60 children per day pass through their doors, and they offer drama, music, civics and a STEAM Academy (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics) program, free of charge. They also offer a girl empowerment program and adult English classes in the evenings.

The school is currently under threat of closing due to cartel war violence in Brazil. According to the Kickstarter page, “Project Favela has never had to solicit help directly. On September 19th, a fragile peace was broken by a cartel war. The school is riddled with bullet holes and the violence has turned the volunteer recruiting upside down and dried up their revenue streams.”

Kaskade Project FavelaDonations will be used to keep the school operating through 2018 and enable Project Favela to offer children a place where they can play and learn safely. As if this wasn’t incentive enough, Kaskade is offering anyone who pledges $50 USD or more a signed copy of “Kaskade Christmas”. Anyone who pledges $75 USD or more will receive a signed limited edition Redux poster along with a signed copy of “Kaskade Christmas”. Finally, if you donate $100 USD, you will receive a limited edition signed Redux poster, a signed copy of “Kaskade Christmas” and a Kaskade Vertigo T-Shirt.

As you can see, Project Favela is near and dear to Kaskade’s heart. While they have already raised $8,420 USD, only a few thousand short of their $10,000 USD goal, this project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by
