If you’re a fan of brass infused electronic music, you’ll definitely want to check out the latest tune from Balkan Bump. Will Magid out of Oakland, California is a trumpet playing producer that has recently signed on to Gramatik’s label Lowtemp Music under the moniker Balkan Bump. First emerging on the track “Aymo” off Gramatik’s Re:Coil EP Pt. 1,  Bump is back with his own single called “Irfan,” as well as the announcement of his forthcoming EP coming in early 2018.
Magid holds a degree in ethnomusicology – the study of music from the cultural and social aspects of the people who make it, and that influence shines through on “Irfan.” Balkan Bump has already proven his ability to employ numerous musical styles and unique instrumentation from a variety of cultural influences on his two official releases, and we expect his upcoming EP to further build on that sound. Set for release in January, his EP will be self-titled and will be released on Lowtemp Music. Stay tuned here for updates on the EP release, and check out “Irfan” below.
