Audio – Rat Race EP
Having been producing for almost two decades, Gareth Greenall, better known as Audio, is a verified veteran of the drum n bass realm. With his no-nonsense attitude and a hard-hitting style of producing to match, it’s no wonder that the South Londoner has released on esteemed labels including Virus Recordings, Blackout Music NL, and RAM Records. The last we heard from him he dropped his Beastmode LP on Ram. And now he’s here to drop his latest EP, Rat Race on Blackout.
“Like all my releases, this one represents what I was feeling at the time of creation. The EP is loud and smashy, with big riffs and a lot of energy.”
Audio kicks of the EP with ‘Fizziks‘. The track opens up with a eerie, unsettling vibe before the first drop kicks it into gear with some in-your-face synths and a solid bassline. For the next track, ‘The Crux‘, he changes things up a bit. Cutting back on the synths and having subtle drops he lets the core beat shine through. From there he follows it up with the eponymous track ‘Rat Race‘ before closing it all out with ‘Hypebeast‘. And what a track to end on. Distorted yet polished and wholly aggressive, this is definitely the kind of track that will make a building shake.
And from this varied EP, Audio makes two things very clear. First is his versatility and range as a producer. And second is his consistent ability to create a hard-hitting track that’ll get the dancefloor jumping.
