Volkswagon Mexico released their newest ad which features a similar look to an album cover that many people know. Showcasing two of its models, the Volkswagen Mexico ad replicates their version of Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories album art.
The purpose of the ad is to show Volkswagon’s partnership with Fender in incorporating the Fender Premium Audio System in a few line of its cars. Two cars offered with the sound system from the 2017 model year are presented by the company. The Volkswagon Golf GTI and Beetle are placed side by side mimicking the masks of Daft Punk. Fender’s Premium Audio System is known for presenting concert-quality sound, therefore the choice to market the feature through a Daft Punk reference was a wise one.
Many fans quickly recognized the reference. Receiving several awards in 2014, Random Access Memories was one of dance music’s iconic albums. The album won Grammy Awards for Album of the Year, Best Dance/Electronica Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.
