Google’s new earbuds, dubbed the Pixel Buds, will be able to translate languages in real time. Designed for compatibility with the Pixel smartphone, the new earbuds are Google’s first wireless earphones. Powered by Google Translate, the Pixel Buds will enable users to hold natural conversations in 40 languages.
The earbuds will have a five-hour battery life as well as a chargeable case that will provide an extra 24 hours of use. They will also provide access to Google Assistant. They arrive along with a new slew of Google products, including the new Pixel 2 and larger Pixel 2XL smartphones, the Google Home Mini, the Pixelbook laptop, and the Pixelbook Pen.
In a demonstration at the Google Pixel Buds and Google Clips Launch Event, two users engaged in conversation in English and Swedish as the new earbuds translated in real time, with minimal lag. The demonstration takes place in the video below just past the 1:00 mark.
The Pixel Buds are priced at $159 and set to launch in November.
