Prior to Apple’s Tuesday event revealing the iPhone 8, a rogue employee sent out information about the new phone to two websites. Considered an intentional sabotage act, the employee sent out classified information about the new product to 9to5Mac and MacRumors.
John Gruber, a known blogger who covers Apple, stated:
“More surprises were spoiled by this leak than any leak in Apple history”
The leak reinforced that the new iPhone 8 would be presented as the iPhone X. According to sources Apple has chosen to name the OLED version of the new model as iPhone X to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the iPhone. The two LCD models will be named iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The leak also confirms long talked rumors about face recognition. This will provide further security than the Touch ID and passcode. It will also allow for online purchases to be made within the phone.
The leak revealed information about iOS 11 which highlights “animoji“. Animoji will be 3D animated versions of current emojis:
It is leaked that iOS11 will include a revised version of AirPods. The new iPhone will supposedly remove the home button to enhance a full screen experience.
