EDM legend, Avicii, will be taking over Beats 1 radio today. Beats 1 is a 24/7 worldwide radio broadcasting to more than 100 countries and delivers world-class programming and music. It is operated by Apple and airs a mix of pop, rap and indie music.
This comes soon after he ascended to the top 10 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart with his six-track EPÂ AVICI (01), which was teased only a few weeks prior to its August 10th release date. The EP is Avicii’s fourth Top Dance/Electronic Album to land on the chart’s top 10 after Stories, which debuted at No. 1 on Oct. 24, 2015.
The Swedish DJ and producer played it cool, simply uploading teasers of the project (while atop the mountains of Machu Pichu) to his Instagram account. The EP includes notable features by Rita Ora and AlunaGeorge. The sixth and last track listed is a remix of Sandro Cavazza’s track ‘So Much Better’. Cavazza is also featured on Avicii’s track ‘Without You’.
“I‘m really excited to be back with music once again, it has been a long time since I released anything and a long time since I was this excited over new music!” Avicii said in a statement. “My focus on this first EP of the album was to get a mix of new and old songs, some that fans have been asking about/waiting for mixed with brand new songs that they haven’t heard before!”
With that in mind, we can expect an album at some point. He took to Twitter on August 10th to say, “I will however never let go of music – I will continue to speak to my fans through it. I will never stop making music. My new EP is out NOW!”
Listen to his EP here and be sure to tune in to Beats 1 radio for the slight possibility of some new music!
