Instagram just dropped an update that now allows users to respond to each others stories not only using messages, but also via a photo or video.
When launching another user’s story, you’ll now be able to see a brand new camera icon on the bottom left of the screen. Tap the icon to either record a video reaction or react with a Boomerang.
Users will then be able to see your new video reply in the usual Instagram inbox located on the top right of your screen by tapping the Direct icon. Users will also be notified if another user screenshots your reply. Photo and video replies will vanish after they have been viewed.
Another feature added in with this new reply method is the ability to use the screenshot of the story you are replying to as a sticker in your reply.
While this may not be a huge update, it most certainly is a convenient add-on that adds more new ways of being able to interact and respond to one another’s stories.
Look for it in the new 10.28 update for Instagram available for Android & iOS in the App Store.
