Taking a music production class led by deadmau5 is cool enough as it is. Add in a competition with the grand prize being a release on his famous imprint, mau5trap, and you’ve got something even more special.
Deadmau5 is offering the students enrolled in his music production Master Class a chance to be featured on an upcoming mau5trap compilation album titled ‘We Are Friends.’
Entries are open to those currently enrolled in the Master Class. It’s also open to those who sign up now since the submission deadline isn’t until later September. The winner will be announced in December.
The class itself consists of the Canadian producer teaching his approach to mixing, mastering and the whole process of creating music through 23 video lessons.Â
To enter the new artist competition, you must produce an original track under 10 minutes that resonates with the sound of other mau5trap releases – think progressive house or techno – and it must not contain samples. You can then submit the track in MP3 format beginning August 29.Â
The winner of the contest will be featured on a mau5trap album, receive career guidance and a meeting with deadmau5, Komplete 11 Ultimate and Kontrol S61 from Native Instruments, and $10,000.Â
3 finalists will receive $2,500 each and the Komplete 11 production suite from Native Instruments. Lastly, 10 semi-finalists will receive $1,000 and the Komplete 11 production suite from Native Instruments.
