In a not-as-shocking-as-you-would-think turn of events, The Chainsmokers performed at the 2017 CMT Awards last night with Florida Georgia Line. The performance featured the song “Last Day Alive” which comes straight off of their debut album “Memories: Do Not Open.”
For some reason this collaboration doesn’t come as shocking as one would think, seeing as the electronic act are as apple pie as it gets. Commentary aside, the crowd seems to have loved the peculiar mashup chockfull of exciting pyrotechnics. The performance saw Drew Taggart provide some backup harmonies to the overpowering vocals of the Florida Georgia Line crew. This isn’t the first country-electronic crossover and most certainly not the last. It’s interesting enough to want to see more of this type of genre-bending in music.
