From Eric Prydz’s EPIC 4.0 tour to Axwell/\Ingrosso‘s show in March, Terminal 5 have hosted some of the biggest EDM events in New York City. On April 30th, however, the venue was the host to Travis Scott’s birthday event as apart of his Bird’s Eye View Tour and the ambiance was far different from that of an Eric Prydz show.
During Scott’s performance, fans began climbing over the railings at the higher levels of the venue. This caught Scott’s attention and instead of demanding the fan to climb back to safety, the rapper encouraged the fan to jump into the crowd below. Without hesitation, the unidentified fan leaped into the crowd below. The recognition received by the fan would then inspire other fans to follow. While some were lucky and were caught by the fans below, others were not as fortunate. One insane fan leaped from the third floor of the venue. The fan came crashing into the floor and has reportedly broke his legs. The fan was then asked by Scott to proceed to the stage where the rapper presented him with one of his personal rings. Social media users, @barbie_VXXV, @FuegotheAlbum and @nateantoine, shared videos of the event as well as the aftermath of the unfortunate fan. You can see a video of the incident below.
This was not the first time, Travis Scott has made a controversial decision during his performances. In 2015, Scott commanded the crowd to beat up a fan who tried to steal his sneaker while the rapper was performing a stage dive, and was also arrested just minutes into his set at Lollapalooza 2015 for inciting a riot.
