Deadmau5 has been extremely busy as of late playing his ongoing Lots of Shows In a Row tour, plenty of afterparties, setting pop-up shops, bringing his LED mau5head back to life, and countless other things.
Over this past weekend, deadmau5, whose real name is Joel Zimmerman, played a total of five sold out shows in Los Angeles, four of which were at the Shrine Expo Hall with the all new Cube 2.1. The other show was a set at Insomniac’s Factory 93 where Zimmerman played two hours of techno with the exception of his closing song.
Zimmerman chose to end the set with one of his favorite song to troll with, Levels by Avicii. This isn’t the first time he has mockingly played the track as he famously dropped it in his 2014 Ultra set when he replaced Avicii as the headliner as well as during his 2015 Governors Ball afterparty unhooked set at Verboten in New York.
In other mau5 news, Zimmerman took to Instagram to announce a brand new cube stage setup that will allow him to take the stage to more venues. The “cube lite” will be the exact same cube, except it will be lighter and have no motors, which will make it easier to bring to other venues.
This news means that more tour dates with the cube will inevitably be announced and having this “cube lite” opens up the possibility of an international tour.
