After a controversial decision last year to leave one of the biggest names in the industry off the lineup, it seems like Hardwell will not be playing at Tomorrowland this year either. When Hardwell was asked to comment on this lack of inclusion in last year’s Tomorrowland lineup, he stated he wasn’t sure why and that he was just as surprised as the fans. EDM fans and festival goers from all over speculated that the decision last year was related to the hometown DJ duo, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. With the two acts battling for the top spot on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ rankings, fans believed that Tomorrowland left the Dutch DJ off the lineup to give the duo an advantage in the voting. Is this some sort of response to Ultra Music Festival’s refusal to book Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike?
When “Tomorrowland?” is typed into Hardwell’s Facebook messenger, an automated response is immediately received stating that Hardwell will not be performing at Tomorrowland this year. The subtraction of Hardwell not only eliminates an epic performance on the Mainstage but also eliminates the possibility of a Revealed Record Label Stage along with all the producers signed to the label.
Although Hardwell may not be part of the lineup, Tomorrowland is still inviting a talent-stacked group of headliners to guarantee an amazing experience. Check out the full Tomorrowland lineup here.
