Gorillaz Frontman Damon Albarn revealed in a phone interview with Zane Lowe that he has 40-45 tracks that won’t make the upcoming album Humanz, releasing April 28. The long-awaited LP from Albarn and company will feature 26 tracks with a variety of features spanning several different genres. The group recently released four brand new tracks and have started to release tour dates, making their comeback official.
In a preview for the upcoming Beats 1 radio show, Zane Lowe revealed the snippet of the full phone call with Albarn where he reveals the amount of tracks that won’t make the record. Lowe also premiered another brand new track from the album on Apple Music today titled, “Let Me Out” featuring Pusha T and Mavis Staples. “I’m just sort of slowly going through all tunes that sort of didn’t work out and finishing them,” Albarn said. “I can certainly keep going for another 18 months, I reckon.”
The fact that there are possibly 45 Gorillaz tracks out there gives fans hope that the group may be around for the long haul, possibly giving us more Gorillaz music sooner than we thought. Check out the brand new Gorillaz track, “Let Me Out” below:
