New technology utilizing solar power has emerged and it will allow you to charge your phone if no other outlets are available. This is exciting news for EDM fans, as your phone dying can essentially leave one handicapped at a festival. The hat is made by Los Angeles company SolSol and involves using a USB port to charge your phone, iPad, GoPro, and more.
The hat functions thanks to solar panels on the bill that draw in energy from the sun. According to the SolSol website, what makes the hat so unique is that the energy is not stored in a battery. Instead, the energy is sent to a proprietary regulator called the LXT-SOL which allows energy to be transferred to your device without the use of a battery.
The SolSol hat comes many different colors and styles to suit your taste.
Reviewers have stated that the brim of the hat does feel slightly heavier due to the weight of the solar panels. Currently the hats are selling for $56 and many of them are not yet available for the iPhone 7 or IOS10.
SolSol has green and eco-friendly goals with the introduction of the hat. Their lifestyle motto, ‘To Wear it is to Live it’, entails using technology to reduce your carbon footprint and taking ‘charge’ (clever one guys) on healing our planet.
