Porter Robinson, known for his unique synth pop sound and his fascinating obsession with anime, has provoked controversy on twitter yet again with an interesting tweet that was deleted shortly after it was posted.
This is not the first time Twitter has felt the heat from Porter. In January, Porter took to his page officially “disowning” all but 11 songs from his overwhelming amount of released music, stating that “everything else is unofficial now. I’ve been making music for 12 years and I only wrote 11 songs, wow” leaving out Lionhearted, a true fan favorite.
With his continuing success on the Shelter Tour and his admired status in the world of electronic music, one has to wonder where the hostility comes from. However, Porter fans understand that he is endlessly reinventing himself and he takes his image seriously. He wants to be portrayed for what he truly is, an innovator with a fierce passion for making music that he can be proud of. He refuses to conform to what the industry wants him to be and that is something to be admired. Let’s just hope he takes his emotions away from social media and into the recording studio because the world needs more of Porter Robinson’s music.
