When watching YouTube videos, it’s no secret that the ‘Skip Ad’ button is often a user’s best friend. That being said, when the video-sharing website rolled out some 30-second advertisements that can’t be skipped, people were understandably unhappy about the precious minutes that were being taken from their busy days.
Well, it looks like your voices have been heard, as YouTube will be scrapping these pesky commercials in 2018. According to a Google spokesperson, “We’ve decided to stop supporting 30-second unskippable ads as of 2018 and focus instead on formats that work well for both users and advertisers.” We think it’s safe to say that we’ve never been this excited to watch five seconds of a YouTube advertisement.
