Music for cause? Count us in! A stellar group of artists will come together on March 16th at the intimate Fonda Theater in Los Angeles to fundraise money for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The names on the promotional poster may seem unfamiliar at first, but thats why we’re here! The lineup consists of RL Grime (Henry Steinway), Shlohmo (Henry Laufer), Baauer (Harry Rodrigues), Groundislava (Jasper Patterson), DJ Dodger Stadium (Sam Griesemer & Jerome Potter), D33j (Djavan Santos) and Nick Melons (Nick Meledandri). All of these artists are from music collective, and one of the event organizers, WeDidIt.
The ACLU is currently protesting president-elect Donald Trump due to his recent executive orders, amongst other recent controversies. 100% of the proceeds from this benefit will go towards their efforts. In regards to the event, RL Grime stated:
“The ACLU is quite literally defending our freedoms,” Steinway says. “I think we have a responsibility to defend our choices, our beliefs, our right to speak and our right to perform. I am only able to do what I do because I felt safe and protected and supported in my pursuits. I want everyone to feel that safety.”
