Steve James – Warrior (ft. LIGHTS)
Steve James has been exceptionally busy since his last original release, “In My Head.” Since his sophomore single, he’s gone on tour with Matoma and Vanic, produced “In the Name of Love” with Martin Garrix and Bebe Rexha an played with the former in Ibiza, worked alongside Matthew Koma, and even found time to put out a track with Morgan Page. In that time he’s been nominated for 2 Grammy’s through his work on Justin Bieber’s 5x platinum album, Purpose. That’s an insane schedule and output, but he’s got so much more in store for us, as proven by his latest release and third single: “Warrior”.
Enlisting Canadian vocalist, LIGHTS, Steve’s produced what has to be his finest release yet; “Renaissance” and “In My Head” introduced a whole new sound to his fans and the industry alike, infusing addictive pop elements with dance music creativity, but Warrior stands a truly refined embodiment of the SJ style. The real impact from this song comes from its message though, one of empowerment and self belief. “Warrior” seeks to inspire listeners and give them the courage to fight through whatever adversity they may face in these admittedly tumultuous times. LIGHTS spoke with Noisey to explain the track’s origins and motives behind this message, and the two artists are pushing for fans to interact with the #ImFightingFor hashtag to share what they’re fighting for (or against) in their life. Check out the song now below, and be sure to share with LIGHTS and Steve James what it is you believe in on Twitter and Instagram!
