Ari El – Poetic Justice EP
Queens native Ari El has been quite busy as a performer and producer with shows in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and Atlanta (where his after hours techno party called Odyssey has taken the city by storm) as well as releasing tracks on Unity Records, Afro Acid, District Audio and Clandestine Recordings. A diverse background that includes being a lyricist, vocalist and pianist have provided and built a strong foundation for his skills to take him to the next level.
The result is an EP dropping on Victor Calderone and Mike Frade’s imprint, Waveform Recordings. His Poetic Justice EP solidifies three tracks together for a ripping, hard hitting experience. The title tune “Poetic Justice” brings an enticing group of shuffling hits hat set a top an industrious bassline that remains stagnate but not stale. Next up is “Smooth Operator” which utilizes a gradual build continues throughout the song with a few warm tid bits added for good measure. Rounding out the EP is “The Greatest” and Biggie Smalls being sampled from the classic “Nasty Boy”. Quite a great way to end this three course meal so to speak.
