Forbes Magazine’s ‘30 Under 30′ segment has become one of the premium sources for young people who are looking for some inspiration. This year’s music portion showcased 30 of the best young talents, with six of the spots being directly related to electronic music.
This year’s 30 ‘Under 30’ features two electronic artists who have certainly skyrocketed in popularity throughout the course of 2017: Gallant and Drew Taggart of The Chainsmokers.
Gallant, 25, is known for his unique blend of R&B, alternative rock, soul, and electronic sounds. He released his debut album Ology in 2016 to great reception and a Grammy nomination, and is expected to do even greater things in the future.
Drew Taggart of The Chainsmokers has undeniably been at the top of 2016’s charts consistently alongside other member Alex Pall. But at just 27 years old, Taggart has landed a spot on this year’s 30 Under 30, as well as three Grammy nominations: Best Pop/Duo Performance, Best Dance Recording and Best New Artist.
Another musician on the list is Daya, 18, who’s a past collaborator with The Chainsmokers on ‘Don’t Let Me Down.’ She released her debut pop album in October.
Now, let’s not forget the behind the scenes, managerial side of EDM. Two DJs’ managers earned a spot on the list as well.
The first, Derek Dolin, started out as an intern with Conan O’Brien and working with Kathy Griffin. Now, he serves as the day-to-day manager to Calvin Harris at just 28 years old. Listmate Michael George, 27, discovered the teenager who would later be known around the world: Martin Garrix.
