Richie Hawtin is doing a club show at The Marquee in Las Vegas. As surprising as that sounds, no – we’re not joking.
Even though Vegas and its clubs have become the mecca for some of the hottest big-room names, clearly some promoter has a mission of diversifying the clubs lineups and helping those out that are looking for something different than what’s playing on every street corner. Techno legend Richie Hawtin is scheduled to play in the Boom Box Room at the Marquee night club inside The Cosmopolitan on Monday, November 28th. The Boom Box Room is a smaller more intimate part of Marquee and also performing will be local DJ BadBeat.
Vegas is still king in electronic dance music and has been for years, but if the biggest clubs continue to exploit the popularity of only big-room and main stage acts, it may soon become a phase that fades out like the rest. If a wider range of DJs can continually be booked like this then we could see dance music reign supreme in Vegas for many years to come, benefitting not just the city and county’s economy but also all of us looking for a place to be able to rave until 6am.
