The DJ Mag Top 100 poll has seen many faces and genres over the years, just look back at the outcome from 2000 and compare them to the selections that were just recently announced. With this being their most successful year to date, amassing over one million votes for the first time ever, opinions rolled in from all corners of the earth with the United States tallying the most input, followed by India, Brazil, Mexico, Belgium, Netherlands, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Russia, China, Japan and Guatemala. This clearly demonstrates the raw power globally dance music has been able to attain over the last 15 years.
There’s a new number one if you’ve been living under a rock. Martin Garrix secured the nomination, beating out the former numero unos Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike who came in at No.2. Another former top of the poll, Hardwell, who was crowned in 2014 rounded out the top three with the rest the seven spots remaining largely unchanged with the exception of Oliver Heidens throwing his weight around at No. 8. Calvin Harris dips to No. 14 even though he is a top earner while Diplo falls out of the top 20 all together. Marshemello hosting the highest new entry position at No. 28 is no surprise with all the hype built around him as when he first burst onto the scene, his identity was masked, bringing in an extra element to his likability. Other notables are Daft Punk, who oddly always make the list but never tours, ATB, JAUZ and Porter Robinson.

While most of the 100 slots are comprised of EDM producers, a select few of the underground house and techno scene now and again, sneak their way in. This year, Carl Cox was slated at No. 74 with Richie Hawtin being next in line at No. 124 in the 101-150 rankings. This list is fairly comprehensive (you forgot Lee Burridge) and would make most heads of the scene happy (enough). The nice mix of heavyweights and outliers such as Solomun, Joris Voorn, Kölsch, Stephan Bodzin all make up the rest of the top 50.
