It would be an understatement to say that the DJ Mag Top 100 has turned into a bit of a popularity contest. Both fans and artists alike have continuously voiced their frustrations with the poll, which is why we here at EDMTunes have decided to take matters into our own hands.
A few weeks ago, we created our Facebook poll and asked our team members to choose their 5 favorite DJs. Just like the DJ Mag Top 100, we did not give any specific qualifications, meaning that it was up to each staff member to determine what they value in an “DJ”. For example, some people looked at the artists’ productions, while others focused on relevance over the course of 2016. Each vote was treated equally and ties were broken by the number of editors (senior staff members) who voted for the artist.
In case you’re wondering, here are last year’s results. We understand that this poll isn’t going to please everyone, as it’s only meant to be a reflection of our team. That being said, we hope that it’s a more accurate representation of the electronic music community at large.
