The Chainsmokers Insult Rihanna & Lady Gaga in Rolling Stone Interview

Words hurt ya know! And two people that are feeling the pain right now are Alex Pall and Drew Taggart of The Chainsmokers. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the duo was quoted saying some rather unpopular things about female pop mega-stars Rihanna and Lady Gaga. And the internet did what the internet always does, responded…with a vengeance.

The initial backlash sparked from their distaste of Lady Gaga’s new music, “It sucks.” “She’s a great artist – like, Jeff Koons made a sculpture of her…” Pretty aggressive statements for a six-time Grammy winning singer. The rest came when discussing their massive hit, “Don’t Let Me Down.”

We all know that Daya performed beautifully on that tune, but the vocals were originally for Rihanna. When she declined, The Chainsmokers tapped Daya and dedicate the song’s success to her own personal drive.

“Young unknown artists have this hunger – they’re willing to work really hard.”

As expected the internet was not pleased and Twitter was blowing up with the hashtag #TheChainsmokersAreOverParty. It’s dangerous territory to insult two of the biggest pop icons. We’ll just have to see if the backlash has any repercussions. Check out some of the angry tweets below.
