Six years after its release to the public, “We Found Love”, Calvin Harris and Rihanna‘s first collaboration, has sold 10 million copies and has become Diamond certified by the RIAA. When released, the song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks, taking the crown of longest running number-one single in 2011.
Calvin Harris and Rihanna join artists such as Lady Gaga, Eminem, Katy Perry, Macklemore, Rihanna (she has two songs that were certified), Justin Bieber, Imagine Dragons and more on this most recent add to the RIAA’s Diamond-certified list. It’s important to note that the Scottish producer is the only EDM artist to ever achieve this feat.
This news comes right on the heels of Harris winning two VMA’s for his songs “How Deep Is Your Love” and “This Is What You Came For” and of course, constant news revolving around his breakup with Taylor Swift.
We can only wonder what the fate of Rihanna and Calvin’s latest collaboration will be. It sold 123,000 copies during the song’s first week and is currently at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. With the tune being in the top 10 for twenty freakin’ weeks, it seems “This Is What You Came For” may be heading in the direction of a second Harris/Rihanna Diamond certification.
