deadmau5 has always been known for pushing the boundaries when it comes to the inherit relationship between electronic music and technology. One of the ways he exhibits this passion is through the insane amount of production that goes into his live shows. The mau5 is known for his cutting-edge stage designs, with one of the most iconic ones being ‘The Cube‘. To this day, this particular stage is still adored by his fans. That being said, it seems like one DJÂ took his love for the cube a little too far.
Hey @deadmau5 these guys stealing your cube setup? @djtigerlily concert @ Austin. pic.twitter.com/9c22KTvDkf

During a recent show in Austin, Texas, Eric Fink (who just so happens to be Krewella’s former tour manager) performed on a cube-shaped stage that was eerily similar to deadmau5′ patented design. Initial tweets suggested that DJ Tigerlilly was the culprit, but the Canadian producer later cleared the air. Needless to say, deadmau5 was not pleased with the situation and voiced his frustrations on Twitter:
Is this actually happening? I can not. https://t.co/6jfE3tk5co

It’s also a pretty good indication that there’s a massive lack in creativity in electronic music production. https://t.co/yMnBRcMiSZ

We did. But of course, that never stopped anyone from being an idiot. https://t.co/uGb7g1xvxZ

Just to clarify: wasnt @djtigerlily . The ripoff was some asshat named Erik Fink. Plot twist: he was actually krewellas old tour manager.

something about an apple and a tree and how far it falls or some shit.
— dead mow cinco (@deadmau5) September 16, 2016
Hey everyone! I just invented a new stage! It’s actually inside a deep hole filled with cement. Hope nobody rips me off.
— dead mow cinco (@deadmau5) September 16, 2016
The thing that pisses me off the most is that he used chauvet LED panels. Get that shit outta here.

.@Erikdisco it’s pretty frustrating to spend millions of dollars on an idea that sets you apart only to be poorly replicated by someone else
— dead mow cinco (@deadmau5) September 16, 2016
.@Erikdisco much less the insane amount of manhours, technology, and development that went into it. It’s heartbreaking really.

I make a metric fuckton of money at a show, then I use it to employ new and creative stage design. Know what I mean? https://t.co/18T6QJ7YD0
— dead mow cinco (@deadmau5) September 16, 2016
.@DJNickMiddleton you’d probably be pretty annoyed if some plebs started ripping your shit off too. “Step off” he says.
— dead mow cinco (@deadmau5) September 16, 2016
Yo, step off! I ripped it off first.
— dead mow cinco (@deadmau5) September 16, 2016
.@Eduarrddoo__ yeah. I mean, maybe I’m just being a dick. they’re like two totally different things. pic.twitter.com/aSG3ke0K8A
