According to the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, one man and two women died either at or after the festival. Captain Horace Boatright stated that the deaths were likely due to the extremely hot weather in Southern California this weekend, peaking at above 100 degrees fahrenheit at times. In addition to the deaths, there were reported to be 325 arrests at the festival, mostly due to public intoxication. Following the deaths and arrests at HARD Summer 2015, the company was forced to restrict its flagship event, Day of the Dead, to a 21+ age requirement, and limited the hours of the festival. HARD Summer this year returned to an 18+ event, potentially contributing to the high number of public intoxication arrests. Our condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who passed.
