The new Netflix original series Stranger Things has been getting some serious acclaim since its release earlier this year. The show pays homage to the feel and aesthetic of many 80s science fiction films through its clever visual production and its stunning soundtrack. This new series which is directed by the Duffer Brothers, stays true to its 1980’s inspiration, by enlisting the help of cinematic techno duo S U R V I V E to truly make the viewer feel like they have gone back in time. The duo S U R V I V E is comprised of the extremely talented Michael Stein and Kyle Dixon. After being enlisted for this project, the duo felt that they needed produce a soundtrack that truly fit the plot, as well as the setting. Stein and Dixon mention how they wanted to give the show a classic feeling, while avoiding the “cheese” that music from the 80’s is so notorious for. They do a truly excellent job of utilizing many classic sounds and styles from 80s music, while giving the soundtrack a polished sound.
