Justin Jay & Friends – Broke The Law
No doubt, Justin Jay & Friends have had one hell of a summer. After kicking off the season with the first track off their Fantastic Voyage (The Album!) titled “Weatherman”, the collective has been able to surprise and demise the standard way to release a record. Released through a string of singles and EPs on renowned labels like Black Butter, Freerange Records, Soul Clap Records, Loss Foss’ coveted Repopulate Mars label, the Justin Jay & Friends project has been a monumental success. Additionally, their live performance at this year’s Splash House: Afters Hours and HARD Summer Music Festival were met with outstanding praise, proving they can succeed in both fronts.
While this may not be the last song Justin Jay & Friends create, it is at least for their Fantastic Voyage (The Album!). Released on Justin Jay’s home label Dirtybird Records, “Broke The Law” is a strong testament as to why Justin Jay was picked up by the label in the first place. Featuring the talents of Sacha Robotti, Josh Taylor & Henry Wassits, the bass-thumping, heavy-hitter is a funky ride through gritty synths, rolling basslines, and infectious vocal cuts. Justin Jay & Friends’ final track off their album will have you wanting to get into some trouble tonight.
