It’s late July and the 2016 festival season is winding down. Ultra, EDC Vegas, and Tomorrowland have all come and gone and the dance music world will slow down a little bit in terms of big developments. Naturally, this is the perfect time for dance music’s favorite persistent rumor to return. That is, the oft-discussed Swedish House Mafia reunion rumor. When the trio disbanded in 2013, there was no discussion about a reunion and Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso have all swatted down rumors every chance they get. That doesn’t stop people from reading hype into every action they take.
Earlier today, the popular YouTube music-channel, Proximity, shared a since deleted promotional video, hyping what could potentially be the biggest comeback tour of the decade. The video teases a Swedish House Mafia tour in 2017, stating with a robust disclaimer* that it was all but confirmed.
We consulted our own sources in hopes of further confirmation, including teams working for the relevant artists as well as other artists in the SHM circle for answers; sources that include those working at Axwell Ingrosso’s label PRMD were unfortunately confident that this rumor was bunk. Shortly thereafter Axwell and Ingrosso issued the following statement exclusively to EDMTunes:
“At this point we’re not planning on reuniting and I have really no further comments on what the future for SHM looks like.”
Sorry guys, looks like we’ll have to “save the world” another time.
UPDATE: Steve Angello allegedly also responds with unfortunate news.
Editor’s Note: The post issued by the team at Proximity has since been removed from their page, and consequently the embedded post has been removed from this article; the outlet assures us and their fanbase that the content was not developed under false pretense. EDMTunes will continue its correspondence with Magnum PR to further investigate the possibility of the tour.
