You’ve probably been living under a rock if you haven’t heard of Pokémon Go – the latest game to grace the modern world and take cell phones by storm. Though it’s been beneficial in a number of ways – raising Nintendo’s stocks and getting users outdoors and exercising – the negative consequences are rising with the positive ones.
One negative consequence in particular is concerning: the creation of Pokémon super-strength ecstasy pills. the Sunday People reported that drug dealers have begun to manufacture these pills in the shape of various Pokémon. These pills are more dangerous than your typical ecstasy pill; on top of being extra strength, the pills are combined with 2C-B once created – making them a dosage of two different substances – and smuggled on the dark net drug markets. According to reports the drug markets have currently only been accessed from the UK, but it is only in due time that we can expect these sales to grow internationally. The price, too, is concerning – 50 doses for £49.71. UK dealers pay with bitcoin currency.
A gang source in Manchester reportedly revealed: “There are hundreds of thousands of these pills being pressed in Holland and Germany and shipped here.” He explained that the appeal is massive, and there’s no stopping them.
“Chances of them being intercepted are pretty slim. Sell them for a fiver a go and you make a wedge. There’s massive demand. Pills are back in a big way.”
