In remembrance of the last great youth movement to hit Europe, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp curated an exhibit titled ENERGY FLASH The Rave Movement, taking place from June 17 to September 25, featuring items selected from various archives, television documentary, literature and criminal legislature.
“Energy Flash will be the first museum exhibition for considering rave, as well as the social, political, economic and technological conditions that led to the advent of rave as an alternative movement across Europe. It will look at the ideologies as well as the aesthetics of rave, along with its effects on wider culture.”
Separate from the exhibit, there are three club nights in conjunction, celebrating the launch. Wolfgang Flür and Renaat Vandepapeliere on June 16, K’Alexi Shelby and Paul Du Lac on June 17 and Ame’s Kristian Beyer plays on June 18.
