Aly & Fila, old school Egyptian trance duo, are throwing their very own trance event called Future Sound of Egypt Island that is to take place on July 2nd, 2016. The lineup for the event includes other class acts such as Arctic Moon, Ferry Tayle, M.I.K.E., Monoverse, Sean Tyas, Solarstone, and The Thrillseekers.
Fortunately for us, we were able to interview Aly & Fila and discuss their future as well as the FSOE Island event, amongst other things. Read it below:
Who were the biggest influences early on in your career?
“Paul Van Dyk”
What were some of the biggest obstacles that stood in your way in pursuing your dream?
“When we first started touring in 2006 – 2007 was very abnormal to see a DJ from Egypt touring internationally , was normally Dutch or British DJs then American back then but through hard work from ourselves and our team around us we managed to overcome that obstacle”
What can we expect from your FSOE Island set – how will this be different than any of your previous sets?
“We always try to take the audience on a journey , each week we have new material from our label Future sound of Egypt and also producers around the world, which helps to include into sets”
Can you tell us about one of your most memorable experiences on tour?
“Well was a show we did locally in Cairo when we hosted Future Sound of Egypt 400 at the the Great Pyramids of Giza last September , that was something out of this world , to be able to perform at that backdrop was a dream come true for us”
What are any creative tricks you use to come up with inspiration and/or new melodies – how is the sound palette established?
“Working as a duo in the studio helps us to complete each other, Fila might come up with nice chords that Aly adds more to it and vise versa”
Who are your current favorite upcoming trance acts?
“To be honest we really like a lot of artists from our Future Sound of Egypt Label such as Ferry Tayle, Dan Stone, Darren Porter , Arctic Moon , James Dymond, ReOrder, Mohamed Ragab, LTN. Alex Ender , A&Z, Ahmed Romel, Bjorn Akesson , Alan Morris, Niko Zografos, Omar Sherif, Jonathan Carvajal, Monoverse , Sean Matthews and there is more and more great artists coming through”
What’s next for Aly & Fila and FSOE?
“We are working on our next Studio artist album , we have just released our first single of 2016 today – Aly & Fila x Luke Bond & Audrey Gallagher – Million Voices. We have more singles to release this year . Along with our team we have several Future Sound of Egypt Events in 2016 with FSOE Island at Governors Island in New York City on July 2nd and also FSOE 450 in Los Angeles at The Hollywood Palladium on July 3rd, we also have FSOE Love Mobile with Synergy and the Zurich Street Parade and also FSOE 450 in Victoria Warehouse in Manchester with more FSOE Events to announce. This week also sees our first trip to Ibiza of the summer where we are Residents for Cream @ Amnesia . We will continue to work hard pushing the Future Sound of Egypt Record label , Radio Show and Events and also work hard in studio to continue to release music”
