People generally credit the Billboard Music Awards for paying homage to artists that top the radio charts, and who could argue? It is plain to see from the name of the establishment that the award is meant for those who dominate radio waves. Although most of the nominated artists fall under the pop category, there are of course some DJ’s/ producers that make it to the list. This year, four EDM household names took home a golden microphone for the works they have created over the past year. David Guetta won Top Dance/ Electronic Artist, Zedd received the Top Dance/ Electronic Album award for his beautiful True Colors, and not surprisingly, Major Lazer and DJ Snake beat the competition for Top Dance/ Electronic Song with their collaboration “Lean On” featuring MØ. All in all, it was another great year for dance music as top artists take home awards that they deserve. Maybe in the years to come, we’ll see our heroes win even bigger awards.
