In a community where live music events tend to be limited to adult crowds aged 18 and over, it is often overlooked that perhaps children would enjoy this music as well, and they do. Norman Cook, or Fatboy Slim as most people know him, performed for children and their parents at a dedicated kids’ rave on Sunday, May 15. As part of the Brighton Fringe Festival, England’s largest arts festival, the world-renowned DJ played two hours of pulsating and pure electronic music for children and their parents to dance along to and just have a good time. This wholesome event took place at one of the festival’s beach parties entitled Baby Loves Disco. Although this show was on a much smaller scale than most played by Fatboy Slim, there is no denying that perhaps more EDM concerts should be open to all ages. With the right attitude and safety precautions, hopefully someday more children will be allowed to enjoy their favorite kind of music live.
