Time Warp Music Festival ends early this year in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The city government shut down the festival after a series of suspected drug related deaths. Health officials say five young people lost their lives, while five remain in critical condition.
Two victims died inside the festival grounds on Friday, and the other three passed away in an ambulance or hospital. The recently departed were between the ages of 21 and 25. Officials say the majority of hospitalized victims are in comas.
Private ambulances that were in attendance were unable to cope and were forced to call the Buenos Aires’ emergency service for assistance. Dr. Alberto Crescenti is the head of the emergency medical system and is overseeing the incident.
Autopsies are needed to determine the cause of deaths, but Crescenti is already pointing fingers at drug use.
