Who would have thought that Erik Bauersfeld from the classic Star Wars Trilogy, would become a coincidental hero in the dance music community. His heroic status comes from 3 simple words: “It’s a trap!“. The veteran actor played Admiral Ackbar in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and even made an appearance in 2015’s Episode VII.
Erik passed away Sunday morning at his home in Berkeley, California at 93 years old. His signature phrase took on a life of its own, and is one of Star Wars’ most repeated lines in pop culture. In fact, the phrase has become so embedded within EDM that TomorrowWorld hosted a stage called “It’s A Trap!” for multiple years and became the title of an anti-smoking campaign with a companion track by none other than NGHTMRE. It’s clear that Erik Bauersfeld lived an accomplished life, and his memory will live on in the trap music community for plenty of time to come.
