We’ve told you before, but 2016 is the year of Eric Prydz. After kicking off the year with a 2 disc masterpiece called Opus, the Swedish producer has become the hottest item in dance music. What is more surprising is that Joel Zimmerman (aka deadmau5) and Eric must have something exciting cooking now that both of their studios are done because they keep planning appearances together.
The two legendary producers ruled the news last week when news broke that they would both be playing Ultra Music Festival’s A State of Trance stage on Sunday. Fans declared that Ultra had set the bar impossibly high and couldn’t be topped. Then today, Tomorrowland 2016 announced that it’s first headliners would be none other than deadmau5 & Eric Prydz. Not only are they headlining, but they’re curating their very own stage. This is the first time that deadmau5 will appear at any Tomorrowland festival and the first time that Eric Prydz will headline, after he played an unusual opening 3 hour set during Tomorrowland 2014 from noon to 3pm. This comes mere weeks after deadmau5 joked about what artists he would book if he bought the now troubled TomorrowWorld festival in Atlanta. It appears that now we will get to see his choices for real. The two playing together is a wet dream for many dance music fans and hasn’t been seen since HARD Day of the Dead in 2014. Tomorrowland did the impossible and matched the epic level achieved by Ultra just last week. Now all we can do is get excited and see what the legends have in store for us in 2016.
Proud to announce for the very first time at Tomorrowland: deadmau5 vs Eric Prydz. They will be joining forces to curate their own stage on Friday, July 22nd.
