Back in September, there were some rumbles about another music festival looking to call New York City home. It wasn’t going to be just any festival though, as AEG Live and Goldenvoice were looking to give the East Coast its own version of Coachella. They put together a name, Panorama Music Festival, and said it was going to occur at the famous Corona Park in Queens just a few weeks after Governors Ball. This news didn’t settle well with organizers of Governors Ball, as they petitioned to the Mayor of New York City to stop the festival. The Governors Ball organizers’ wishes came true just last month and Panorama was delayed due to complications associated with securing permits for the Corona Park venue. The AEG Live team did not give up and have officially settled on dates and a location for Panorama.
Randall’s Island isn’t where they originally planned to have the festival occur, as they are now sharing the venue with the previously mentioned Governors Ball as well as Electric Zoo. Panorama is going to take place on July 22-24 and has been billed to be, “Three days of music, art, technology, and local food offerings”. The name of the festival comes from the Panorama of the City of New York, which is a nearly 10,000 square foot model of the city located in the Queens Museum. Goldenvoice will continue its work to bring Panorama to the Corona Park venue so it can call it home for years to come.
