No, this isn’t The Onion or one of those joke news stories. This weekend art aficionados and people who want to appear to be like them went down to Miami for the annual Art Basel festival, which features art showcases and also plenty of quality underground house music from the likes of Jamie XX, Four Tet, Richie Hawtin, and more. Apparently a fight inside the Miami Beach Convention Center escalated into a stabbing, according to the Miami Herald. One woman stabbed another in the arms and neck, but the injuries were not life threatening. Both women were attendees of the art festival and not exhibitors.
As serious as the incident was, the entire incident was completely ignored by bystanders who stepped over the victim. This happened because the bystanders actually thought the stabbing was some sort of performance art. Others who saw the victim being hauled away on a gurney thought that perhaps a piece of art had fallen on her. Clearly this incident will generate some laughs, but let’s be thankful that the victim is ok and the attacker was quickly apprehended.
