In celebration of The Clash‘s former bassist, Paul Simonon’s, 60th birthday, one half of recently revived virtual alternative/trip hop band, Gorillaz‘s Damon Albarn, took the stage at his London birthday bash alongside Oasis‘s Noel Gallagher and the Pretenders‘ Chrissie Hynde to form a one-night-only, musical supergroup this past Sunday night. This priceless concert of epic proportions included a setlist of material from all three bands, including a variety of classic Clash tracks, and selections from Albarn’s vast catalog, including Gorillaz and Simonon-assisted “The Good, The Bad & The Queen.” But one of the night’s most notable moments came when Oasis frontman and Gorillaz co-creator covered Gorillaz’s “D.A.R.E.,” taken from the duo’s second studio album Demon Days, in a uniquely polarized way, with Albarn and Gallagher expertly traded off vocals on the chorus. Check out a edited compilation of video clips taken during their all star cover of “D.A.R.E.” below.
