Just a little over a year ago, we published a story about Steve Aoki and his desire to release some deep house tunes. The Dim Mak boss told Mixmag:
“I won’t release it under Steve Aoki, it’ll be under another name. I don’t want to confuse people who associate me with my usual sound, and I want it to be judged on its own merits. We’ll see how it does.”
As time passed, it seemed like these songs would never see the light of day. Thankfully, in a new interview with DJ Mag, Steve Aoki revealed that he will be releasing four house tracks early next year. The Los Angeles native discusses how the tunes were made in Ibiza, where audiences are primarily made up of Brits and Europeans who are accustomed to hearing house and techno. He adds:
“With house, it’s a different kind of energy. You’re not going full force, you have a really great groove that you can stay in; that can keep you in the same place and it’s continuous, it lasts longer and it’s a different kind of flow. It’s nice to change it up. You’re not speeding down the freeway the whole time,”
Steve Aoki did not mention if the four productions would be released under a new moniker, but once we get our hands on one of them, we’ll be sure to let you know.
