Nym – Convex LP
San Francisco based producer Nym is known for his genre transcending, worldly blend of folk, trip hop, and film score music that evokes cinematic images of the Wild West, dusty attics, cat tails, warped VHS tapes and dimly lit saloons. After having self-released three full length albums, Nym teamed up with longtime friend, Douglas Appling, better known as Emancipator, to release his newest production feat, the wonderfully warm Convex LP through Emancipator’s label, Loci Records.
Nym’s newest LP is a beautiful, 10 track journey through a cohesive yet diverse soundscape that enchants and enthralls listeners with a downtempo, zen-like flow of ambient beats and psychedelic grooves. The producer explained of his Convex release:
This is memory music. It’s about how simple things are more complex upon closer inspection. It’s about natural ghosts in strange spaces. This is the result of several years of studying the emerging global trip hop genre and finding my place in it. It is a mix of both powerful emotions and cinematic imagery, and i’m honored to share it with you.
